Hi! How lovely that you’d like to join USAC!

Registration for new members is open from 1 to 31 August. If there are too many applications, places will be decided by lottery.  We’ll also be at the sports fair during the UIT on 11 August , so feel free to stop by! You’ll be able to try climbing there as well.

Below are the mandatory dates you’ll need to keep free. Further information will follow!

Mandatory dates:

• 1 September: Introduction climbing,
  • shift 1 = 16:30-18:00
  • shift 2 = 18:00 tot 19:30

When you get selected:

• 3 September: Confirmation of registration (during the day at the uithof)
• 7 September: Introcafé
• 8 & 15 óf 10 & 17 September: Indoor Toprope cursus: 17:00-19:00
• 19-20 September:  Bussum introweekend
• A weekend at the end of September/beginning of October: Introweekend België

 

Costs

• Contribution: €45 per year. (€30 euro for your first six months if you join in the spring).
• Compulsory intro weekend outside (Belgium or Germany): about € 60,- one-time
• Mandatory: Olympas: €160,- per year including SSV registration for a full year from when you join. This pass can be bought via the USAC page on the Olymppos website and is mandatory to have as a USAC member. However, you only need to purchase it after you have been enrolled. In that case, do so immediately so that you can already show the pass at your official registration. This Olympas also allows unlimited sports at Olymppos. Click here for the sports on offer. The Olympas is only compulsory in your first year at USAC and covers the costs of the Introweekend in Bussum and your Indoor Toprope training, among other things.
• Mandatory: Membership of NKBV (Dutch Climbing and Mountaineering Association). Membership fee standard € 44.00 and insurance € 39.95 per year (for more info see https://verzekeringen.nkbv.nl/lidmaatschap/). If you become a member of the NKBV after 1 October, you will no longer pay the NKBV contribution for the months until December of that year, on condition that you also remain a member the following year. Membership of the NKBV + insurance is mandatory (only for the introduction weekend in September it is not yet mandatory).

Contribution will be collected via direct debit or can be transferred to giro: NL63 TRIO 0320 6003 94 on the name of USAC te Utrecht.

Welcome! If you are studying in Utrecht and interested in joining our student mountaineering club you will have to enroll in our introduction period. On this page you can find important dates as well as some information about the membership costs. It is really helpful if you attend the required introductory activities. If you have any trouble to enroll in certain activities you can contact the ab actis (ab-actis@usac.alpenclub.nl). You can enroll on this page from the 1st of August to the 31 of August 2025. If you have any trouble you can e-mail the ab-actis, but try to fill in the form as best as you can. Exchange students that are already skilled climbers have the option to enroll at other times during the year. However, if USAC has already reached the maximum capacity of members it can happen that it becomes impossible to register at a later date.

Important dates september introduction period 2025:

Below are all the dates of the 2025 introduction period. Put them in you calender as they are all mandatory

Before the draw:

• 2 september: IntroClimbing, you will be given a shift
  • shift 1 = 16:30-18:00
  • shift 2 = 18:00 tot 19:30

If the draw falls in your favour:

• 4 september: Registration day (during the day, somewhere on the Science Park/Uithof)
• 8 september: Introcafé
• 9 & 16 OR 11 & 18 september: Indoor Toprope Course: 17:00-19:00
• 20-21 september: Introduction weekend in NL
• A weekend at the end of september/beginning of oktober: Introweekend Belgium (to be decided at the registration day).

Costs

Yearly contribution is 45 euro’s (30 euros if you enroll in the spring). The outdoor introduction weekend (in Belgium or Germany) is approximately 55 euro’s. The Olympas-membership is 160 euro’s (for most students). You can buy this on the USAC-page on the Olympos website (https://www.olympos.nl/nl-nl/sportaanbod/verenigingen/alleverenigingen/details.aspx?sportgroep=KLIMMEN#Vereniging). Only do this after you are a definitive member. This membership is only mandatory in your first year at USAC. It also allows you to join other sports/activities at the university gym. You will need some climbing insurance. In the Netherlands we have the NKBV (Dutch Royal Mountaineering Club). They offer a membership for 44 euro’s and insurance for 39.95 euro’s. For your outdoor weekend we can also offer a temporary insurance but if you plan on climbing outdoor more often, you should have an insurance that covers climbing activities. You can ask board members for further insurance information as an international student as it could differ slightly from what is offered to Dutch members. Starter set If you don’t have any climbing gear yet, klimmuur Utrecht has a climbing starter set especially for USACers. You can purchase this at the climbing wall for €104,50+-109,50 and it includes the following: Black Diamond Harness Momentum (harness), Jul2 van Edelrid (belaydevice), HMS strike screw Edelrid (karabiner). For €15,-  you also get a chalk bag and a chalk ball.
